We’ve seen great improvement towards international students’ metal health services in Australia in recent years. As part of the services, we recently participated in the Conference and Student Ambassador Award Ceremony at Multicultural Hub in Melbourne.

At the conference, Professor Daniel Wong from University of Hong Kong delivered an inspiring presentation on Mental Health Literacy of and Mental Health First Aid for Chinese Internationals Students: Challenges and Resolutions with strong statistic support.

As a language service provider, we have been constantly helping Chinese clients with mental health problems communicate with professional psychologists and/or psychiatrists. Though our practice, we found that the language barrier is a very large obstacle for Chinese people in Australia to seek professional help, given the Chinese speaking professionals are very limited in Australia. Especially people who are suffering with depression, they don’t even want to talk to other people in their mother tongue not to mention in the second language that they may not good at.

Things worth sharing –
